ITC Adds LeaperKim Coyote to the Electric-Unicycle Investigation.

In Certain Gyro-Stabilized Electric Unicycles and Components Thereof and Products Containing the Same, Investigation No. 337-TA-1488, the Commission determined not to review ALJ Order No. 18. Its September 16, 2026 notice states that Guangzhou Coyote Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. d/b/a LeaperKim is added as a respondent.

What changed

According to the notice, complainants Inventist, Inc. and Alien Technology Group, Inc. d/b/a Alien Rides moved on August 7 to amend the complaint and notice of investigation. The ALJ granted the motion on August 18. The notice distinguishes the newly added entity, called LeaperKim Coyote, from the originally named Guangzhou Veteran Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. d/b/a LeaperKim.

The notice also gives the reason. As the notice describes the ALJ's order, complainants learned through LeaperKim Coyote's former pro se representative that the originally named LeaperKim respondent is allegedly defunct and that LeaperKim Coyote is allegedly a separate legal entity that currently owns the LeaperKim trademark, and the ALJ found good cause to amend. The notice of investigation named Inmotion Technologies Co., Ltd. d/b/a Inmotion, Guangzhou Veteran Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. d/b/a LeaperKim, Dong Guan BEGODE Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. d/b/a BEGODE, Shenzhen King Song Intelligence Technology Co., Ltd. d/b/a Kingsong, and Guangzhou JiDongTai Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. d/b/a Nosfet as respondents. Inmotion was later terminated based on a settlement agreement (Order No. 11, May 21, 2026).

What the complaint alleges

The Commission's notice describes allegations that imported gyro-stabilized electric unicycles, components, and products containing them infringe certain claims of U.S. Patent 8,807,250 and the claim of U.S. Design Patent D729,698. The investigation was instituted March 5, 2026. The September notice changes the respondent list; it does not announce an infringement finding.
