The case is Lab Technology LLC v. CallCurrent, Inc., No. 1:26-cv-01122 (D. Del.), filed September 4, 2026. Lab Technology says it is a New Mexico company, and the complaint describes CallCurrent as a Delaware corporation with an established place of business in San Francisco, California. Venue is pleaded under 28 U.S.C. 1400(b). Lab Technology demands a jury.
The patent
U.S. Patent 8,483,102, titled System and Method for Mapping a Voice Identity Across Multiple Telephony Networks with Time Attributes, issued July 9, 2013 from an application filed October 29, 2007. Claim 1 covers a system with phone systems whose telephony switches route calls, a policy processor that receives a voice identity from the switches, and a stored voice identity mapping policy that maps search voice identities, applicable to many users, to target voice identities and carries time attributes saying when the policy is valid. The processor matches the incoming voice identity to a search voice identity and maps it to a target voice identity, each a username, and sends the target username back to the switches, which route the call using it.
What the lawsuit is about
Lab Technology alleges that CallCurrent directly infringes, and since service of the complaint has induced infringement of, one or more claims of the '102 patent. The complaint identifies the accused products and exemplary claims only in claim charts attached as Exhibit 2, which are not available, and alleges, on information and belief, that numerous other devices also infringe. It asks for a judgment that the patent is valid and infringed, damages under 35 U.S.C. 284, and a finding that the case is exceptional under 35 U.S.C. 285.
Status
A Rule 7.1 disclosure statement was filed October 5, 2026, and the court so ordered a stipulated extension of CallCurrent's time to answer on October 20, 2026.
What to watch next
Watch for CallCurrent's answer or Rule 12 motion under the extended deadline. Lab Technology's same-day suit on U.S. Patent 9,578,570, No. 1:26-cv-01121, was voluntarily dismissed in September.
