The case is Reframe Technologies LLC v. Psyonix LLC, No. 1:26-cv-01114 (D. Del.), filed September 3, 2026. Reframe says it is a New Mexico company, and the complaint describes Psyonix as a Delaware entity with an established place of business in San Diego, California. Venue is pleaded under 28 U.S.C. 1400(b). Reframe demands a jury.

The patent

U.S. Patent 7,552,870, titled Trading Network Resources, issued June 30, 2009 from an application filed March 16, 2006. Claim 1 covers a method of authorizing the use and trading of network resources that keeps two kinds of accounts, user accounts with balances and accounts for network resource access gateway operators, where credit on an operator account can act as credit on a user account. On a request for substantially immediate provision of network resources that identifies one account of each kind, the method authorizes or denies the request based at least partly on the user account balance and then adjusts the balances of both accounts by amounts that depend on the resources used.

What the lawsuit is about

Reframe alleges that Psyonix directly infringes, and since service of the complaint has induced infringement of, one or more claims of the '870 patent. The complaint identifies the accused products and exemplary claims only in claim charts attached as Exhibit 2, which are not available, and alleges, on information and belief, that numerous other devices also infringe. It asks for a judgment that the patent is valid and infringed, damages under 35 U.S.C. 284, and a finding that the case is exceptional under 35 U.S.C. 285.

Status

Summons was returned executed on October 6, 2026, and the court so ordered a stipulated extension of Psyonix's time to answer the same day.

What to watch next

Watch for Psyonix's answer or Rule 12 motion under the extended deadline. Reframe's other same-day suits on the patent are No. 1:26-cv-01113 and No. 1:26-cv-01112, which Reframe voluntarily dismissed on September 24, 2026.
