The patent

U.S. Patent 10,491,646, titled Mechanism for Facilitating User-Controlled Features Relating to Media Content in Multiple Online Media Communities and Networks, issued November 26, 2019 from an application filed November 5, 2015. Claim 1 covers a computer-implemented method in which a media management device displays an interactive user interface while an audio or video item plays on a smartphone, tablet, wearable, laptop, or desktop, and a user selects a playlist assistance function, shown as an icon, that returns results exactly matched to search categories such as title, artist, album, or genre. The results include playlists drawn from the most popular playlists in a dynamic music service catalogue, links to media communities, and a dynamic feed about the user and other users, with the media item displayed or shared on social media webpages, and user changes trigger updates to collaborative applications.

What the lawsuit is about

DynaMuse alleges that Songtradr directly infringes, and since service of the complaint has induced infringement of, one or more claims of the '646 patent. The complaint identifies the accused products and the exemplary claims only in claim charts attached as Exhibit 2, which are not available. It alleges, on information and belief, that numerous other devices also infringe. DynaMuse asks for a judgment that the patent is valid and infringed, damages under 35 U.S.C. 284, and a finding that the case is exceptional under 35 U.S.C. 285.

Status

Songtradr received an extension of its answer deadline (ECF No. 7, so ordered October 1, 2026), and the docket lists an entry described as a stay on October 29, 2026 (ECF No. 8).
